The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini – 1966 – United States

After a millionaire dies, his heirs congregate at his mansion for the reading of his will. The will reveals that all the money is hidden in the mansion and the heirs must find it. The millionaire’s crooked lawyer hires thugs to kill the heirs so he will inherit everything. Also at the mansion is a mischievous ghost girl (with an invisible bikini), some dopey bikers, and a busload of teenage surfers who just want to have a good time.

The Magic Sword

The Magic Sword – 1962 – United States

The Magic Sword was produced/directed by Bert. I. Gordon, also known as Mr. B.I.G. for his proclivity toward giant monsters. Wondrous examples of his techniques include The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), Beginning of the End (1957), and Village of the Giants (1965). The Magic Sword is based roughly on the legend of Saint George and the Dragon, plus a hodgepodge of other mythology.

Queen of Blood

Queen of Blood – 1966 – United States

Queen of Blood is an odd mix of creature-horror and space-faring sci-fi by American International Pictures. Director Curtis Harrington also made the dumb Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965) under the pseudonym John Sebastian. The Comedy of Terrors – 1963 – United States

Produced by Samuel Z. Arkoff, written by Richard Matheson, scored by Les Baxter, and starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone, and Rhubarb the Cat (a.k.a. Orangey—feline thespian of This Island Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Village of the Giants)—The Comedy of Terrors is a potpourri of high profile talents. Predictably, it’s good too.

Hillbillys in a Haunted House

Hillbillys in a Haunted House – 1967 – United States

Don’t be fooled horror fans. Disregard Lon Chaney Jr., Basil Rathbone, and John Carradine on the bill, Hillbillys in a Haunted House isn’t for us. The threesome’s face time clocks a quarter of what’s spent on country crooners who sing for any reason. A sequel to Las Vegas Hillbillys, usually I wouldn’t bother, but the premise is winning: Country singers escape a storm in a haunted house, also home to Madam Wong’s international spy ring plus a killer ape. But mystery, adventure, and horror are the least of this musical comedy’s cares.
