The Vampire’s Coffin – 1958 – Mexico

While researching vampires, a scientist steals a vampire’s corpse from a graveyard. He accidentally revives it, and the vampire goes on a rampage. A nervous, buffoonish doctor kills the vampire and rescues a beautiful woman.

The Vampire’s Coffin is a sequel to The Vampire (1957). The Vampire’s Coffin is pretty generic. The vampire is a handsome count who wears a tuxedo and cape. He sucks blood, transforms into a bat, hypnotizes people, walks through walls, and turns invisible. The doctor stabs him in the heart with a spear.

Vampire’s Coffin is cheap, but it has some attractive images. The interesting sets include a graveyard, a theater, and a wax museum. Stark, shadowy lighting enhances their spooky ambiance. The museum features an iron maiden (called a “virgin of Nuremberg”). A nun gets impaled inside it.

Rating: 4/10 Shrunken Heads. Fine yet forgettable.
