Tijuana After Midnite – 1954 – United States

Tijuana After Midnite
was directed by Phil Tucker, the infamous creator of Robot Monster (1953). Unfortunately, Tijuana After Midnite is not nearly as interesting. Various strippers perform their routines in front of a single camera. Meanwhile, two comedic tramps scam free booze and make surprisingly lewd innuendos.

Making striptease films was a common practice of exploitation filmmakers, and Tijuana After Midnite is unremarkable in that regard. At least the girls are attractive and manage to muster some enthusiasm. The highlight is the “Indian Rubber Girl” (not really Indian) whose dance involves contorting into yoga-like poses. However, the comedic interludes run too long and are utterly brain damaging.

Rating: 2/10 Shrunken Heads. A more entertaining striptease film is Orgy of the Dead (1965). Written by the inimitable Ed Wood Jr., each dancer has a background story explaining why they are damned to dance for eternity in the realm of the dead.
